Bharatanatyam
Chaos in you makes you a passionate dancer
Bharatanatyam, the TFA way
Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest classical dance styles of Tamil Naadu in South India. It has a tradition of over 2500 years. In the olden days Bharatanatyam used to be referred to as Sadir Aatam or Daasi Aatam. This art form was mainly performed by Devadasis (servants of God) in the Temples of South India.
To learn this dance form, students will first have to master a series of “adavus” or steppings as well as some theory relating to the hand gestures, neck, head and eye movements. We have a very complete syllabus which is based on the Kalakshetra Bani (style) of dance. Our students will have to sit for exams in 5 stages which will ultimately culminate in an “Arangetram” or the Graduation (Solo Presentation).
"An artist plays a character, not with his body, but with the mind."
